Social Media and SEO Are Entwined!

Social media optimization (i.e. SMO) has to be an essential part of your SEO (search engine optimization) strategy. Especially in this era, when youngsters are making TikTok videos and regular Instagram postings rather than Google! This implies that the popularity of any website on different social media networks is more effective for SEO than ever before! But which social media networks should one be focusing on? With so many such platforms today, one can feel overwhelmed with the options available. Also, not to worry, you do not need to be active everywhere, you can be selective! Also, see if your most loyal customers are on LinkedIn, then focus on professional LinkedIn marketing rather than focusing on Pinterest images to avail most of the opportunities. First, see your business and accordingly decide on the platform(s) where your audiences will engage the most, and after that set a rhythm that works for you and keep building it. After having an effective social strategy in place, you can start publishing!

Here are a few tips you can use to set up or improve your social media strategy.

  • Keep Your Account Alive: Keep your social media accounts active by posting regularly and going at your own pace. If you can only post a couple of times a week, then it is good enough.
  • Write Interest Grabbing Excerpts: The content that you post should be appealing. Some tricks to take home from here are that you can try posting the most captivating sentence from your blog, or maybe the first paragraph if you think that can catch readers’ attention quickly. Hook them! The basic formula for this can be to post 
    • Something to fetch their attention first
    • Then, write the pain point which they may be struggling with
    • After that, provide the solution for their problem
    • End it with a call to action (i.e. CTA)
  • Try Diversifying Your Posts: Content blogs, press releases, links, images, videos, image blogs, vlogs, memes, etc., try to diversify your posts shared on social media. 
  • Reply Promptly to Comments: Answering questions and then following up is a great way to manage your audiences and keep them engaged. You can even chat with longtime followers. Handle bad comments quickly so that your comment section does not become a negative and toxic place. 
  • Use Catchy Pics and Illustrations: Catching the audience’s interest is more than important! Good graphics and high-quality images can do the trick for you!
  • Join Communities: You can become a member of communities on Facebook etc. Being active in some communities or niches can help you create allies, and brand ambassadors, as well as fetch new ideas. You can also find interesting people. Also, by discussing with your customers and end-users, you can build your brand and grow your product(s) and/or service(s). 
  • Understand the Strata of Metadata: All social media platforms have started to become small search engines. So if you wish to be seen and found, make sure to include the metadata as hashtags. These things can help your brand to grow considerably.

Social media is an important part of any (off-page) SEO strategy. Setting up a comprehensive social media strategy needs creativity, but when you have it, it will be worth it!
